This nice village in North Holland is located near the beach of Castricum aan Zee, the dunes and between the bulb fields. Limmen is known as one of the oldest villages in North Holland and therefore houses beautiful monumental buildings. This flower village is the perfect base for various cycling trips, but cities such as Alkmaar and Amsterdam are also easily accessible.
Alkmaar is known as the cheese city of the Netherlands, but that title only covers part of the load. Because this city in North Holland has much more to offer. There is the beautiful old center with plenty of monuments, nice shopping areas and countless cozy terraces, cafes and restaurants in all price ranges. In addition, it is great shopping, there is the Municipal Museum, the Beer Museum, the Beatles Museum and of course the Cheese Museum.
Then Castricum aan Zee is ideal and close by! Do you fancy a quiet beach or do you prefer some commotion, Catricum aan Zee has it. The Stille Strand (quiet beach) can only be reached by bicycle or on foot through the forest and the dunes and here you can enjoy the beach and sea in peace. Don't forget your dune card! The Busy Beach is easy to reach by car via the Zeeweg and near the large beach entrance is a large parking lot (for a fee), where there is always space. There are plenty of nice beach pavilions for a delicious lunch.
